Overview

The VIAVI OCC-4056C is a DWDM optical channel checker (OCC) module for the T-BERD/MTS-2000 V2, T-BERD/MTS-4000 V2, T-BERD/MTS-5800 and OneAdvisor 800 platforms. It provides OSA-like functionality in a handheld form factor for deploying and maintaining passive DWDM wavelength routes in Fiber Deep, Remote PHY, C-RAN and 5G networks, as well as metro/access links and DWDM systems.

The module scans the DWDM system and automatically records all channels with their wavelength/frequency and power level. Results can be shown as a graphical spectrum or as a table, so each channel's performance can be checked individually. Coverage spans the C-band from Ch62 to Ch12 on the ITU-T G.692 grid with 50, 100 and 200 GHz channel spacing.

Drift measurement

A built-in drift test application records power and wavelength over a user-definable period and presents the results in graphical and numerical form, supporting optical performance monitoring.

SFP/SFP+ bays

Integrated slots host up to two SFP/SFP+ DWDM transceivers or one tunable SFP/SFP+. With the Tunable Optics software option, the instrument reads the type and wavelength of DWDM transceivers and controls tunable SFP/SFP+ devices. These can act as DWDM transmitters to test insertion loss per wavelength and end-to-end continuity through mux/demux and OADMs.

Operation

An Auto-Test mode identifies WDM channels, selects the wavelength range, applies auto scaling and qualifies the system against pre-defined parameters. Automatic channel detection, pass/fail analysis against user-settable limits, and statistical, continuous or single evaluation with automatic storage are available.

Key Features

  • Qualifies any DWDM channel frequency and power level
  • Supports C-band applications (Ch62 to Ch12)
