Overview
The VIAVI P5000i is a digital handheld microscope that automatically inspects and certifies the end faces of fiber connectors according to industry standards and specifications. It provides a pass/fail result at the push of a button, replacing subjective visual judgement with a repeatable, objective analysis.
Contaminated fiber connectors are a leading cause of troubleshooting in optical networks. The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has defined a standard for acceptable fiber end-face quality, and the P5000i is designed to make certification against such acceptance criteria fast and consistent. User-selectable acceptance profiles allow certification to any acceptance criteria.
Platform compatibility
The P5000i connects via USB to a range of VIAVI instruments, including CellAdvisor, Certifier, OneAdvisor, OneExpert, Optimeter, SmartClass Fiber, SmartOTDR and T-BERD/MTS, as well as to laptops, PCs and mobile devices. On a PC or laptop it works with FiberChekPRO software for analysis and reporting; on Android devices it works with the FiberChekMOBILE app, which requires an activation key per microscope. The optional FBPP-WIFI Wireless Adapter allows wireless connection to Android or iOS devices, and to Windows PCs or laptops via WiFi.
Inspection
The microscope offers dual magnification (200X and 400X) with a toggle button for switching in both live and analysis views, and automatic image centering keeps the fiber in the center of the screen. It accepts FBPT series inspection tips, covering the connector types used in current networks.
