Overview

The VIAVI E41CWDM10L is the CWDM10L version of the 4100 Series CWDM OTDR modules. It covers 10 CWDM wavelengths from 1271 nm to 1451 nm and is used with the T-BERD/MTS-2000, -4000 V2 and -5800 platforms. Combined with the CWDM10U module (1431 to 1611 nm), 18 CWDM wavelengths are covered in two OTDR modules.

The module allows cable operators, dark fiber providers and telecommunication service providers to test through MUX/DEMUX and perform end-to-end link characterization or troubleshooting of active C-RAN, DAS and mobile fronthaul CWDM networks. In-service testing and automatic traffic detection make it possible to test new CWDM wavelength routes or locate faults without disrupting traffic on active channels.

Light source and analysis

An integrated continuous wave light source operates at the same wavelengths as the OTDR and supports modulation, which can be used to verify end-to-end continuity. The optional Smart Link Mapper (SLM) converts the OTDR trace into icons for splices, connectors and MUX/DEMUX elements. Platform testing features include automatic multitest configurations, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis and FastReport onboard report generation.

The module can be combined with the CWDM spectrum analyzer module COSA-4055 to measure the wavelengths and power levels of active CWDM channels.
