Overview

The VIAVI SmartOTDR E138FB65 is a configuration of the SmartOTDR 100A/B Series, a lightweight, compact handheld fiber tester for field testing of metro and access networks. It combines OTDR measurement with fiber end face analysis, optical loss testing and a visual fault locator in a single device, and uses a tailored OTDR interface with automatic analysis intended for technicians at any skill level.

Generic or user-defined setup configurations help prevent setup errors and keep results consistent. One-touch operation and a single results window provide quick measurements, and the Smart Link Mapper (SLM) result view simplifies OTDR trace interpretation. PON-optimized versions test through splitter ratios up to 1x128 with FTTH-SLM, including unbalanced, tapered and indexed splitter architectures.

Connectivity

Connectivity options include 4G/5G smartphones via USB and optional Bluetooth/WiFi, allowing remote control and transfer of data and work orders to and from tablets, smartphones and computers. Optional SmartAccess Anywhere (SAA) opens a cloud tunnel so a remote technician can access and operate the instrument. The unit works with WebDAV cloud servers, generates PDF reports onboard with FastReport, and includes a one-year trial of StrataSync for asset, configuration and test-data management.
