Overview

The VIAVI MPO12MODKIT-SM is an MPO 12 switch module kit built around the E41MPO12SM on-board switch module. The kit adds two 25 m single-mode MPO to MPO launch and receive cables (pinned-unpinned) and two MTP/MPO bulkhead adapters with opposed key, for certifying native multi-fiber MPO/MTP links.

The switch module installs in the T-BERD/MTS-4000 V2 or OneAdvisor 800 platform, which powers it. It is used with OTDR 4100 series modules (A, B, C, QUAD), with bidirectional IL, ORL and OTDR FiberComplete modules, and with the TrueBIDIR software option. The on-board switch allows an automated test sequence of up to 12 fibers, removing the need for fanout patch cords on native MPO links.

Cable-SLM software

The automated switch sequence is managed with the Cable-SLM application, which gives an overview of a high fiber count project with the pass/fail status of each fiber and connector tested. A "Test All Fibers" function runs a fully automated sequence and gives a verdict for each fiber of a 12-fiber MPO connector, and individual fibers can be troubleshot for a precise fault diagnosis. A receive cable can be installed at the far end to characterize the last connector.
