Overview
The ODiSI 6002 is the two-channel configuration of the ODiSI 600x models in Luna's ODiSI 6000 Series of Optical Distributed Sensor Interrogators. It is a high-definition fiber optic sensing (HD-FOS) system that measures strain and temperature along sensors made from unaltered optical fiber by measuring Rayleigh backscatter, producing thousands of measurement points per meter of sensing fiber.
The ODiSI 600x models support a standard gage pitch of 5.2 mm, with a maximum measurement rate of 30 Hz. With the Standard Remote Modules supplied with the system, each channel supports an HD sensor up to 20 m long or a continuous fiber grating (CFG) sensor up to 15 m long. With the optional Extended Range Remote Modules, each channel supports sensors up to 100 m long as well as HD-SC strain-compensated temperature sensors.
The system includes the mainframe, an instrument controller laptop running the ODiSI application software on Linux, and one standoff cable and standard-length remote module for each channel. The software identifies and configures sensors, displays real-time data plotted against length or time, logs and replays measurement data, and streams data over Ethernet. ODiSI Remote software for Windows and Linux allows control and viewing of a networked system, and the optional 3DViz software maps data onto 3D CAD models or 2D images.
For integration with test and control systems, the ODiSI supports IEEE 1588 PTP network time synchronization, a JSON-based streaming data format, a TTL sync output and start/stop triggering. Luna has discontinued the ODiSI 6000 Series and lists the ODiSI 7100 Series as its replacement.
