Overview
The Luna HD6S is a high-definition (HD) fiber optic strain sensor. A conventional strain gage measures strain at a single point. The HD6S instead measures strain continuously along the whole length of the sensor, at a spatial resolution finer than 1 mm. Sensor lengths go up to 100 m.
With an ODiSI measurement system, an HD strain sensor gives more than a thousand separate strain measurements per meter, with gage pitches as small as 0.65 mm. The sensor uses standard, unaltered optical fiber. It is packaged as a low-profile, flexible sensor so that strain transfers well across many kinds of applications and installations.
Each sensor comes with NIST-traceable calibration coefficients and a unique key ID. The key ID lets the ODiSI system identify the sensor automatically for plug-and-play operation.
