Overview
The Luna HD6T is a high-definition (HD) fiber optic temperature sensor made for use with the Luna ODiSI measurement system. Conventional discrete temperature sensors measure at single points. The HD6T instead measures temperature continuously along the sensor fiber, with a spatial resolution of less than 1 mm.
Used with an ODiSI system, the sensor can provide more than a thousand separate temperature measurements per meter. According to the datasheet, it can sense temperature points at pitches down to 0.65 mm, which allows high-resolution mapping of temperature profiles.
The sensor is a polyimide-coated fiber housed loosely in a PTFE tube (jacket). This construction reduces the strain applied to the sensing fiber when the sensor is bonded to a surface or embedded in a structure. It is low-profile and flexible, so it can follow complex geometries. It is dielectric and immune to EMI/EMC. An included sensor key enables plug-and-play operation with the ODiSI system.
