SecurePNT EdgeGM 7000 EGM-7000 Multi-Band GNSS Edge Grandmaster Clock

The EGM-7000 is a member of the VIAVI SecurePNT EdgeGM 7000 series, a half-19-inch 1U edge Grandmaster clock that combines multi-orbit space and terrestrial timing sources with a high-speed PTP Grandmaster and NTP time server. The series addresses Position, Navigation and Timing (PNT) disruptions such as jamming, spoofing and meaconing attacks on GPS/GNSS antennas, as well as cyberattacks on NTP/PTP network timing, while also serving AI computing workloads that require precise synchronization over high-speed interconnects.

The platform is based on TrustedPNT technology, which fuses, authenticates, verifies, qualifies and learns from multiple timing sources using a zero-trust architecture that follows the principle of "never trust, always verify". A multi-band, multi-constellation GNSS receiver can be backed up by an altGNSS GEO-L or LEO-S satellite service, terrestrial sources and an internal holdover clock.

Timing functions

The EdgeGM 7000 operates as a PTP Grandmaster (PRTC-A/B), Boundary Clock, Ordinary Clock, Transparent Clock or Gateway Clock, supports APTS, SyncE and NTP, and provides 1 PPS, ToD and 10 MHz outputs. Six Ethernet ports are available for PTP, SyncE or NTP, and hardware timestamping offers sub-nanosecond resolution. Multi-industry PTP profiles cover telecom (L2/L3), enterprise and power deployments.

Software licence options

The standard unit provides PTP capability for 256 unicast clients at a full PTP message rate of 128 packets per second; the EGM-7000 1024 Client Software License Option raises this to 1024 unicast clients at the same rate. Ports 1 and 2 operate at 1/100/1000 Mbps and Ports 3 through 6 at 1 or 10 Gbps; the EGM-7000 25G PTP Software License Option upgrades Ports 5 and 6 to 25 Gbps so the unit can connect directly into 25 GbE networks without speed conversion. Management is through SNMP and an embedded Sync GUI, and the JLTerm software is available for download.
