Overview
The VIAVI Xgig OCulink 4-lane Interposer for PCI Express 4.0 (Xgig4K-PCIe4-X4-OC) provides a tap of OCulink or Slimline PCIe data signals for input to the VIAVI PCIe 4.0 Analyzer. It connects the VIAVI Xgig 4K Analyzer/Jammer platform to a system under test and enables protocol analysis of communication between a 4-lane OCulink host port and an OCulink-attached endpoint device. Using the included OCulink to Slimline conversion cables, the same interposer can also be used on Slimline links.
Bidirectional PCIe 4.0 protocol data on each of the 4 lanes is captured at up to 16GTps. High-speed linear signal redrivers buffer the system data signals so that a clean signal is delivered to both the Analyzer and the devices under test (DUT). Low-loss custom cables are supplied for the connection to the Analyzer, along with a side-band signal cable for triggering and capture.
Operation
Data flows between the host system's OCulink interface and the OCulink target DUT as normal, while the signal is tapped inside the interposer for the Analyzer. In Analyzer mode, data is captured from both the upstream and downstream paths; in Jammer or Analyzer/Jammer mode, data flows through the Analyzer chassis, allowing error injection for reproducing failures and system recovery analysis.
The interposer is powered independently of the host system by an included AC adapter, uses a fanless design, and up to four interposers can be stacked. It is supported by the Xgig tool suite, including Trace Control, Expert and Serialytics.
