Overview

The VIAVI UPG-ONX-620TSX-720-PON is a mainframe upgrade package in the OneExpert HFC (ONX-720/730) family. It is a PON Selective Power Meter package built on the ONX-720 TSX software package. It combines a PON selective optical power meter, a visual fault locator, OneCheck Ethernet, OneCheck WiFi and 10G SpeedCheck in one ruggedized handheld mainframe.

The OneExpert HFC platform validates DOCSIS, Ethernet, PON and WiFi 7 throughput up to 10 Gbps. VIAVI Test Process Automation (TPA) provides one-button OneCheck workflows that give automated pass/fail results for Ethernet, WiFi, PON and DOCSIS, and saved results are geo-tagged.

Integrated optical tools

The PON selective power meter has a dedicated SC/APC optical port and measures coexistent PON wavelengths separately. It can read the PON-ID to confirm that the connection goes to the expected OLT. The optional TruePON software automatically verifies total optical loss, PON-ID, OLT connectivity and received power based on the ODN class. A visual fault locator and USB fiber-scope support with automatic analysis help locate fiber faults.

DOCSIS and RF

The ONX-720/730 continues the RF and DOCSIS testing capabilities of the ONX-620/630, and the mainframe upgrade supports existing ONX DOCSIS/RF modules. The unit is IP54 rated, drop tested and modular, with a path to 25G/50G PON and DOCSIS 4.0. It also has integrated GPS, StrataSync support, a mobile app and a field-replaceable 96 W/hr battery.
