Overview

The VIAVI UPG-ONX-620IPX-720-PON is a OneExpert HFC mainframe upgrade package in the PON Selective Power Meter group of the ONX-720/730 family. It brings ONX-620 users to the ONX-720 platform with the IPX software package and keeps support for existing OneExpert CATV DOCSIS/RF modules, preserving the RF and DOCSIS testing features of the ONX-620/630.

The package combines a PON selective optical power meter and a visual fault locator with OneCheck Ethernet, OneCheck WiFi and VIAVI 10G SpeedCheck. The OneExpert HFC validates DOCSIS, Ethernet, PON and WiFi 7 throughput up to 10 Gbps, and Test Process Automation (TPA) guides technicians through one-button OneCheck workflows with pass/fail results.

Optical tools

The selective power meter measures coexistent PON wavelengths through a dedicated SC/APC port and reads the PON-ID to confirm connection to the expected OLT. With the optional TruePON software, the instrument verifies Total Optical Loss (TOL), PON-ID, OLT connectivity and received power based on the ODN class. A broadband mode and an optical loss mode are available as software options. USB fiber scopes such as the P5000i and FiberChek Probe are supported for connector inspection with Auto Analysis.

Platform

The unit is IP54 rated, drop-tested and modular, with a path to 25G/50G PON and DOCSIS 4.0. It includes GPS, StrataSync and mobile app support, and a field-replaceable 96 W/hr Li-Ion battery. The upgrade package ships with a protective fitted case and Cat6A jumpers; the AC charger is not included as standard.
