Overview

The UPG-ONX-620IPX-720-BB is a mainframe upgrade package in the VIAVI OneExpert HFC (ONX-720/730) family. It is one of the Broadband Power Meter packages. It combines the ONX-720 IPX software package with a broadband optical power meter and a visual fault locator (VFL). OneCheck Ethernet, OneCheck WiFi and 10G SpeedCheck are included as standard.

The OneExpert HFC platform tests DOCSIS, Ethernet, PON and WiFi 7 throughput up to 10 Gbps. VIAVI Test Process Automation (TPA) provides one-button OneCheck workflows that give pass/fail results, and saved results are geo-tagged. The intended use is residential and small-business service activation and troubleshooting.

Optical and fiber tools

The integrated broadband optical power meter covers 800 to 1650 nm through a UPP 2.5 mm connector. The 650 nm VFL helps locate fiber faults. USB fiber scopes such as the P5000i and the FiberChek Probe are supported, with automatic pass/fail analysis.

DOCSIS and RF

The ONX-720/730 retains the RF and DOCSIS test functions of the ONX-620/630, and the mainframe upgrade works with existing OneExpert CATV DOCSIS 3.1 RF modules.

Design

The unit is IP54 rated and drop-tested, and it uses a modular design. Upgrade paths are planned for 25G/50G PON and DOCSIS 4.0. Other features include integrated GPS, StrataSync and Mobile Tech app connectivity, and a field-replaceable 96 W/hr Li-Ion battery.
