Overview

The VIAVI OneExpert DSL ONX-580P, listed in the ordering information as OneExpert ONX-580 Pro, is the advanced copper and service test model of the OneExpert DSL (ONX-580) family. The family also includes the service-focused ONX-580A and the standard ONX-580 with copper and service testing. All models can support FTTH and WiFi testing.

The instrument is intended for field technicians deploying residential broadband over xDSL, G.fast and FTTH. A multi-touch interface and OneCheck automated tests give pass/fail results for copper, DSL, fiber and Ethernet tasks, and the one-button OneCheck TDR identifies fault types and locations.

Modular design

Replaceable test modules allow the hardware to follow new access technologies, including VDSL Profile 35b and G.fast up to 212 MHz, and the software can be upgraded in the field. The ONX-TM-BDCM module (Broadcom 63138) covers ADSL/VDSL bonded and V35b, and the ONX-TM-BDCM-212 module (Broadcom 63158) adds V35b bonded and G.fast 212 MHz.

Extended copper capabilities of the ONX-580P

Compared with the standard ONX-580, the ONX-580P adds a CrossTalk TDR test mode, an extended TIMS frequency range up to 35 MHz wideband and 20 kHz narrowband, a wider amplitude range, a VDSL 35 MHz technology filter, and a Separate Pair RFL test mode.

Service testing and data management

Throughput can be verified with Ookla, VIAVI SpeedCheck, Broadcom Speedtest and the RFC-6349 TrueSpeed test. Web, video and VoIP services can also be tested. The instrument is StrataSync enabled for cloud-based asset, configuration and test data management, and a mobile device application provides remote operation.
