Overview

The VIAVI Micro iOTDR Card is a compact integrated OTDR (iOTDR) designed for network element manufacturers (NEMs) to build remote fiber testing into equipment such as amplifiers and switches. It allows operators to locate fiber faults that degrade network traffic and cause latency, jitter, service quality issues and outages.

The card is offered in medium range and long range versions and supports in-service testing and monitoring routines to characterize fiber, identify faults, detect tapping intrusion attempts and track fiber degradation for preventative maintenance. It is intended for xWDM, FTTx, PON and 4G/5G fiber networks, as well as dark fiber testing.

The card is controlled over an Ethernet interface and is supported by a software library covering many remote fiber test use cases. VIAVI professional services can assist with integrating and testing the card within a larger system.
