Luna os4520 Multipoint High Temperature Fiber Optic Probe (up to 700 °C)

The Luna os4520 is the 700 °C member of the os4500 series of multipoint, high temperature probes. The probes are sealed stainless steel tubes designed to make handling easy and sensor installation fast and repeatable in challenging environments. They are based on femtosecond grating technology, and because no epoxies hold the fiber to the tube, long-term stability is ensured by design.

In side-by-side comparisons with conventional thermocouples, the os4500 series is equally sensitive and accurate while providing sub-second response time, a wider operating range, no calibration and no EMI noise. The probe is qualified for use in harsh environments and shares the advantages common to FBG-based sensors.

The sensor can be used alone or in series at the end of an FBG sensor array. Installation and cabling for such arrays are less expensive and cumbersome than for comparable electronic gage networks. Package options include versions that operate like conventional thermocouples with armored cables and protected connectors, as well as small probes that offer installation flexibility and sub-second response time.

Software

The os4500 series is compatible with ENLIGHT Sensing Analysis Software, an integrated suite of tools for data acquisition, computation and analysis of optical sensor networks, and with the HYPERION platform's Application Programming Interface (API), which includes examples in LabVIEW, Python, Matlab, C++ and C#.
