Overview
The Anritsu MS27201A Remote Spectrum Monitor is a compact spectrum analyzer in a standard 19-inch wide, 2U tall rack mount case, intended for long-term monitoring of the RF spectrum over a large geographic area. Frequency coverage starts at 9 kHz and extends to 9, 14, 20, 26.5, 32, 43.5 or 54 GHz depending on the frequency option ordered, covering LMR, cellular, satellite and defense electronic bands.
The instrument is designed for continuous operation. A built-in watchdog timer resets the instrument after a software interruption, and after a power failure the unit resumes operation in the state it was in before power was lost. It is powered from a supplied external power block.
Remote control and software
The instrument has no local display and is operated over Ethernet. The Anritsu Remote and Report Tools (ARRT) suite replicates the instrument interface on a PC for remote control, trace monitoring and saving results, and includes a report tool for working with saved measurements and creating PDF reports. A single PC can control multiple MS27201A units on a common network. Full programmatic control is available through SCPI commands over Ethernet.
For automated long-term monitoring, the optional MX280001A Vision software collects spectrum traces from multiple monitors, stores spectrum history in a database and generates alarms on threshold or mask violations.
IQ capture and analysis
IQ data can be captured to internal memory or streamed to a PC via USB, Ethernet or, with the MA25101A IQ Streaming PCIe kit, a PCIe interface. The MX280005A IQ Signal Master software provides post-processing, modulation quality measurements, playback and file conversion of captured IQ data. Options add real-time spectrum analysis, pulse analysis, AM/FM modulation measurements, channel scanning and WCDMA, LTE and 5GNR signal analysis.
