Overview

The MVOA-C2B12-SB0-M100-MLC is the 12-device, no-monitor, LC/PC configuration of the VIAVI MAP Series mVOA-C2B high-density variable optical attenuator. The module is a precision MEMS-based attenuator built on a MEMS mirror design and offers low insertion loss, return loss and polarization dependent loss with repeatable, stable attenuation.

The mVOA-C2B is a single-slot, hot-pluggable cassette for MAP-300 generation mainframes. With up to eight modules in a single 3U MAP-300 mainframe, up to 96 independently controlled attenuators can be installed, which suits network emulation test systems. The module succeeds the mVOA-C1 and covers the 1260 to 1640 nm wavelength range for client optic testing, coherent interface testing, long haul network stress testing and silicon photonics development.

Operation

This no-monitor variant operates in Attenuator Mode: the desired attenuation is entered through the MAP user interface or through remote SCPI commands and the module sets the output attenuation directly. The constant power and insertion loss modes require the in/out monitor variants (SB1 part numbers).
