Overview

The MVOA-C2B04-SB0-M100-MLC is the 4-device, standard (no monitor) configuration of the VIAVI MAP Series mVOA-C2B high-density variable optical attenuator, fitted with singlemode LC/PC connectors. The mVOA-C2B is a precision MEMS-based attenuator module that succeeds the mVOA-C1 and is designed for client optic testing, coherent interface development, long-haul network stress testing and silicon photonics development.

The module occupies a single slot and is hot-pluggable in MAP-300 generation mainframes. Up to eight modules fit in one 3U MAP-300 mainframe; with 4, 8 or 12 devices per module, a fully populated mainframe supports up to 96 independently controlled attenuators.

Operating mode

The no-monitor variant operates in Attenuator Mode: the user enters the desired attenuation through the MAP user interface or by remote SCPI command, and the module sets the output attenuation directly. Constant Power Mode and calibrated IL Mode are available only on the in/out monitor variants of the series.

Key Features

  • MEMS mirror based variable optical attenuator design
  • 4 independently controlled attenuator devices in a single-slot module
  • No-monitor configuration with direct attenuation control (Attenuator Mode)
  • Singlemode LC/PC connectors
  • Up to 96 attenuators in a single 3U MAP-300 mainframe when using 12-device modules
  • Low insertion loss, return loss and polarization dependent loss
  • High accuracy and repeatability
  • Fast transition speed and settling time
  • Flat spectral response for CWDM and DWDM applications
  • Low backreflection
  • High input power capability for EDFA testing and multi-wavelength applications
  • Hot-pluggable cassette for all MAP-300 generation mainframes
  • Control via UI or remote SCPI commands
