Overview
The MOSA-C1CLG1A-M100-MFA is the C- and L-band version of the VIAVI MAP Series Optical Spectrum Analyzer (mOSA-C1), a diffraction-grating-based spectral measurement module built on a monochromator design. It occupies a single slot in a MAP-300 mainframe and covers 1500 to 1655 nm (199.86 to 181.14 THz) with a 20 pm resolution bandwidth and 1 pm sampling resolution. The order code specifies general performance grade, manual calibration and a single-mode fiber FC/APC interface.
The direct monochromator drive sweeps the full wavelength range in 1.6 s for a single sweep, and traces are acquired at full 1 pm resolution at maximum speed. Averaging of low-power signals is performed over multiple individual scans, so a region of interest is visible almost immediately. Scanning over smaller ranges is possible to shorten measurement time. Trace memory, trace math, drag-and-drop markers and zoom controls support troubleshooting, and optional analysis licenses add measurements for passive components, transceivers, amplifiers and CW sources.
Calibration
The module contains an internal calibration source with both an acetylene gas cell and a broadband light source. A connection on the faceplate links the source to the module input, after which the calibration runs automatically in a few minutes.
Control and automation
The graphical user interface is accessible remotely over a web connection, on an HDMI monitor, or on a version with an integrated touchscreen. Remote automation uses SCPI-compliant commands over Ethernet, with an optional GPIB port available on the MAP mainframe. Two automation methods are provided: a Direct-to-Module command set for set-up, acquisition and trace download, and an Application Environment interface that exposes advanced functions for extracting key parameters. The mOSA-C1 is compatible with the MAP-300 mainframe family and can be combined with other MAP LightDirect modules.
