Overview
The VIAVI GEOL-2600 is a compact, low-power receiver module that provides access to the altGNSS GEO-L signal, a SecureTime GEO service. It derives UTC-traceable time from secure, one-way transmissions broadcast by geostationary satellites, so it does not depend on GNSS constellations.
The module combines a custom receiver design, a disciplined oscillator and a highly directional antenna. The directional antenna improves rejection of interference and spoofing, which allows reliable reception of the narrowband GEO-L signal. Because the time signal is one-way, no return path is required.
The GEOL-2600 is intended for integration into critical infrastructure and other fixed-location systems with a known position. It helps maintain timing continuity when GNSS signals are unavailable, unreliable or insufficient on their own, in applications such as power distribution, telecom networks, radar installations and secure communications.
Timing is delivered through standard 1 PPS and NMEA interfaces, with a 10 MHz oscillator output. The small form factor and low power draw suit platforms with limited space and strict power budgets. The module is configured and monitored over SCPI serial control, and the GPSCon Controller Software is available for download. VIAVI supports system integration and service activation.
