Overview
The VIAVI Xgig 1000 24 Gbps SAS Solution is a stand-alone system that combines protocol analysis and error injection for Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) traffic at all layers of the stack. It supports 24, 12, 6 and 3 Gbps SAS.
The chassis provides dual mini-SAS HD receptacles for bidirectional analysis of single and wide-port SAS links. Each port can be fitted with 32 GB of RAM, giving up to 256 GB of trace capacity per system. Front-to-back airflow allows the unit to stand on end, reducing its footprint on a desk.
Non-intrusive monitoring
An analog pass-through mode provides passive, high-impedance, low-latency SAS connections. The analyzer passes every bit through exactly as received, so the user sees the same signal as the device under test. VIAVI has adapted this method to the characteristics of SAS at high speeds.
Multi-function operation and analysis
The same hardware captures and analyzes traffic with the Analyzer GUI software and injects (jams) errors into live traffic with the Maestro GUI software, selected by software switches. Analysis features include search and filtering, memory segmentation for multiple trace captures, multi-protocol support by cascading with other chassis, and Xgig 1000 24 Gbps SAS Expert, which performs automatic analysis of more than 1800 metrics and 1200 analysis functions.
Automation and sharing
Tests and troubleshooting procedures can be automated through both GUI and API options, from simple commands to regression test libraries. Up to four Xgig 1000 chassis can be cascaded into synch groups of up to 32 time-synchronized SAS ports, or the port leasing model lets up to 16 users work on a single test setup at the same time.
