Overview
The VIAVI NSC200-HOME-PLUS is a Home Package configuration of the Network & Service Companion (NSC-200). It is a compact, screenless hand-held test device. This package comes with Ethernet testing, VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G. Technicians and contractors use it to check network and service layers when they install or repair residential and small business services.
The NSC-200 runs VIAVI OneCheck applications, which give one-button, one-screen results with tests that finish in under one minute. Testing at the Ethernet access point lets technicians compare the delivered service with what the customer experiences and quickly locate where a fault is. The platform supports Ethernet interfaces at 1G, 2.5G, 5G and 10G. Throughput tests on the NSC-200 can reach 10 Gbps with the matching speed-test options.
Software and connectivity
The device is operated over Bluetooth from the VIAVI Mobile Tech app on Android or iOS smart devices. A Job Manager helps technicians organize jobs, test results and reports. Reports can be created on the device and sent through StrataSync, VIAVI's cloud-based asset, configuration and test data management system, or emailed directly from a smart phone or tablet. NSCs can also act as remote-controlled test agents in the VIAVI Fusion centralized test system.
Expansion
Additional test applications can be added to the platform as options. These include GPON and XGSPON ONT emulation, WiFi tests, TrueSpeed (RFC-6349), iPerf, faster SpeedCheck and Speedtest licenses, and L2/L3 loopback.
