VIAVI Network and Service Companion NSC200-GPON-BASE GPON Service Test Package

The NSC200-GPON-BASE is the GPON entry package of the VIAVI Network and Service Companion (NSC-200). The NSC-200 is a compact, screenless hand-held test device that combines PON, Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces with the VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and service activation testing by installers and frontline technicians.

In the GPON-BASE configuration, the unit provides GPON testing through a VIAVI GPON SFP that emulates an ONU/ONT on an SC/APC interface. It is compliant with G.984.2 GPON and G.988 OMCI and reports PON activation state, power levels read from the SFP, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984 and G.988, allowing a technician to confirm that PON service delivery is good before troubleshooting the premises.

Operation and reporting

The NSC-200 is operated through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app on an Android or iOS smart device over Bluetooth v5.0. Job Manager helps technicians manage jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be submitted via StrataSync or sent directly by email from the smart device.

Upgrade path

The NSC-200 platform supports Ethernet interfaces from 10M to 10G, WiFi testing up to WiFi 6, throughput testing up to 10 Gbps, L2/L3 loopback and TWAMP reflection. These capabilities are available as software options and SFP modules for the GPON-BASE package.
