Overview
The NSC100-XGSPON-BASE is a standard PON package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-100). The NSC-100 is a compact, screenless handheld device that combines multiple test interfaces with VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and service testing by frontline technicians and installers.
This package includes XGSPON testing. With a VIAVI XGSPON SFP the unit emulates an ONU/ONT on an SC/APC interface, compliant with G.9807.1 XGSPON and G.988 OMCI. Test results include PON activation state, power level values from the SFP, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.9807 and G.988, so technicians can confirm that PON service delivery is good before troubleshooting the premises.
Workflow and connectivity
The unit is operated from a smart device over Bluetooth using the VIAVI Mobile Tech app. Job Manager helps technicians organise jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be submitted through StrataSync or by email. Additional test capabilities such as Ethernet, WiFi and throughput testing are available as options.
Hardware
The NSC-100 runs from a field-replaceable 32 W/hr Li-Ion battery rated for one week of typical usage by installation technicians, and charges over USB-C Power Delivery.
