Overview
The VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-100) is a compact, screenless hand-held test device that combines PON, Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces with VIAVI OneCheck applications. It is intended for frontline technicians and installers who validate network and service layers during service activation and troubleshooting for residential and business customers.
The NSC100-GPON-XGSPON-PRO package includes GPON and XGSPON testing, Ethernet, WiFi, VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G. In PON mode the unit emulates an ONU/ONT through a VIAVI GPON or XGSPON SFP and reports the PON activation state, power levels, PON ID and ODN class, so technicians can confirm PON service delivery before troubleshooting the premises.
WiFi testing covers both a connected OneCheck WiFi mode and a passive WiFi Expert mode up to WiFi 6, reporting signal strength, channel, noise, airtime and estimated throughput along with recommendations when performance is below expectation. Room-by-room analysis helps optimize coverage in the premises.
Workflow and connectivity
The device is operated from a smartphone or tablet through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app over Bluetooth. Job Manager organizes jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be submitted via StrataSync or sent directly by email. VIAVI Fusion can use NSC units as remote-controlled test agents.
