Overview

The NSC100-GPON-PLUS is a standard package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-100), a compact, screenless hand-held test device used by frontline technicians and installers to validate network and service layers during installation and repair. This package combines GPON testing with Ethernet testing, VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G.

PON and Ethernet testing

Using a VIAVI GPON SFP for ONU/ONT emulation, the unit confirms that PON service delivery is good before the premises are troubleshot, reporting PON activation state, power levels, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984 and G.988. Ethernet tests cover frames, IP connectivity, ping, traceroute, web connectivity and speed tests, giving a clear demarcation between service delivery to the premises and distribution within it.

Workflow and connectivity

The NSC is operated from a smart device through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app over Bluetooth. Job Manager helps technicians manage jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be generated on board and submitted via the StrataSync cloud or by email. Automated OneCheck applications ensure that all required tests are performed while on site.
