Overview
The VIAVI Seeker X is a digital leakage detector for cable networks. It can monitor leakage anywhere in a channel lineup and supports up to 4 concurrent monitoring frequencies from 130-1220 MHz, including OFDM and OUDP support. Operators can therefore define channel lineups freely while still covering the full spectrum.
Seeker X detects tagged leaks and ignores untagged leaks. This reduces false alarms from signals that do not originate in the operator's own system, including in overbuild situations. In addition to legacy Seeker D tag signals, the detector recognises the new Seeker X digital chirp tag for higher leakage sensitivity and positive leak detection.
High-split and distributed access architectures
The detector uses a software-defined radio architecture with an FPGA capable of OUDP signal detection. OUDP burst detection keeps leakage detection working in high-split networks with 204 MHz upstreams, and the units can be adapted to network changes through software updates. For distributed access architectures, virtualized tagging is supported by most major R-PHY, R-MACPHY and R-CCAP vendors, so no specialized hardware is required in the hub and technicians use the same detectors and work processes regardless of node type.
Compatibility with Seeker D systems
Seeker X detectors and mobile mounts can replace Seeker D units in existing systems without changes to monitoring and find/fix processes. Used on their own, they add speed, sensitivity and OFDM detection. If CT-4 taggers are replaced with Seeker-D compatible CT-X units, they can also monitor two extra tagged frequencies.
