Overview
The VIAVI Fiber Test Head for Distributed Acoustic Sensing (FTH-DAS) is part of the NITRO Fiber Sensing solution and provides continuous monitoring of fiber-enabled assets. It uses fiber optic cables to deliver continuous, dynamic, real-time information about vibrational disturbances in the environment around the monitored asset, with detection and localization of events.
The system characterizes and prioritizes detected events, allowing operators to act on identified event characteristics before they develop into a threat.
True Phase DAS
The FTH-DAS uses patented True Phase (quantitative) DAS technology, which improves event detection over background noise to reduce false alarms and improve location accuracy.
Edge AI/ML processing
Embedded AI/ML performs processing at the network edge, reducing data network traffic and removing the need for external or centralized data processing or manual intervention. Local processing lowers latency, supporting near real-time event identification, classification, alarm generation and tracking for time-critical applications.
