VIAVI FV Benchtop Microscope FVDi-2400-L 400x Manual-Focus Long-Working-Distance Fiber Inspection Microscope

The VIAVI FVDi-2400-L is a member of the FV Benchtop Microscopes family. VIAVI describes it in its ordering information as a benchtop microscope with integrated LCD, 400x magnification and long-working-distance (LWD) optics. FV microscopes are used by optical connectivity manufacturers and users to detect contamination and defects on fiber connector end faces.

The 2400 microscopes are built for high-resolution applications, including confirming polish quality and certifying connector quality. Higher magnification and a smaller field of view make fine end-face detail visible, which is required to inspect for compliance with IEC-61300-3-35. The microscopes provide dual magnification and automated end-face analysis.

There are several 2400 configurations. FVAi-2400 models have auto-focus, while FVDi-2400 models use manual focus. FVDi-2400-L models also have special long-working-distance optics, used for applications such as inspecting pinned-MPO connector end faces.

Analysis and software

Automated IEC test analysis lets operators test objectively against standards such as IEC-61300-3-35 at the press of a button, and 2400 microscopes ship from the factory with standard analysis profiles. The microscopes work with FiberChekPRO software. The software adds user-configurable analysis parameters, Scratch-View image enhancement for faint scratches, automation APIs, Job Mode for grouping tests by multi-fiber cable or work order, and report generation in digital, printed and HTML formats.

Device interface

The unit has a 3.5-inch color touch-screen LCD with an icon-based user interface. USB ports connect a PC and external devices such as the P5000i probe or the MP-60 power meter, and a VGA port drives an external display.
