Overview

The VIAVI FVDi-2400 is a 400x member of the FV Benchtop Microscopes family, which helps manufacturers and users of optical connectivity keep fiber connector end-faces clean by detecting contamination and defects. The FV family comes in two magnification configurations, 30x (2030) and 400x (2400). The 2400 models are intended for high-resolution applications, including confirming polish quality and certifying connector quality.

The FVDi-2400 has 400x optics, a high-resolution field of view, dual magnification and automated end-face analysis. Microscopes with this level of performance are used to ensure compliance with the IEC-61300-3-35 inspection standard. 2400 microscopes ship from the factory with standard analysis profiles, so operators can run an automated IEC test with the press of a button.

The 2400 comes in several product configurations. FVAi-2400 models have auto-focus, while FVDi-2400 models use manual focus. FVDi-2400-L models have special long-working-distance optics for applications such as inspecting pinned-MPO connector end-faces.

Software and connectivity

The microscope works with VIAVI FiberChekPRO software. The software adds user-configurable analysis parameters, Scratch-View image enhancement to make faint scratches more visible, automation APIs, Job Mode and report generation for digital and printed test records. The unit has a 3.5-inch color touch-screen LCD and USB ports for a PC and for external devices such as the P5000i probe or the MP-60 power meter. It also has a VGA port for an external display.
