Overview

The VIAVI IFF-45TSL is an RF signal generator and receiver for engineering design, certification, manufacturing and return-to-service testing of MK XIIB and TACAN equipment. It provides RF signal generation and parametric measurement, with replies and interrogations that can be individually configured to support MK XIIB testing requirements.

For ADS-B Out testing, the test set monitors ADS-B, TIS-B, ADS-R and acquisition squitters. For TACAN work, the IFF-45TSL emulates either a TACAN ground transponder or a TACAN airborne interrogator.

The IFF-45TSL carries over the feature set of the earlier IFF-45TS, including Mode 5 testing without the actual cryptographic appliqué and keys through an integral Mode 5 emulator, and separate connections for direct or over-the-air testing. Additions include front panel LED status indicators, modernized RF circuitry that requires no tuning, increased processing capability, AIMS 17-1000 certification, Mode 5 Level 2 B "Out" and a standard 2U enclosure.

An optional Target Generator Instrument (IFF-45TSL-STG) adds Mode 5 Level 2 B "In" and ADS-B "In" capability with up to eight configurable static targets. The unit remains backward compatible with the legacy remote-control interface over RS-232, Ethernet and GPIB.

The product is controlled for export under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); a license from the U.S. Department of State is required prior to export from the United States.
