Overview
The VIAVI F-16 IFF Antenna Coupler Kit provides isolated testing of the IFF interrogator and transponder on F-16 aircraft. Coupling the test signal directly to the aircraft antennas removes the need for DD-1494 frequency authorization that over-the-air testing requires.
Over-the-air testing in ramp and hangar environments with high multi-path tends to give unreliable radiated power and transponder minimum trigger level (MTL) readings. The kit addresses this by placing couplers over the aircraft antennas. The interrogator coupler mounts over the four-element interrogator antenna array, and the transponder couplers mount over the top and bottom transponder antennas.
EMI gasketing on the couplers prevents stray transmissions and interference. The kit interfaces with most IFF ramp test equipment. The interrogator coupler supports all blocks of the F-16 aircraft. The transponder coupler supports all F-16 blocks except F-16A/B blocks 10/20.
This product is controlled for export under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A license from the U.S. Department of State is required before it can be exported from the United States.
