Overview
The VIAVI APM-424 MK XII/XIIA flight line test sets test transponder and interrogator performance on a variety of aircraft, ground and ship platforms. The APM-424(V)5 is a Mode 5 and ADS-B performance and capability upgrade to the TS-4530 and APM-424 legacy test sets.
The family is offered in two standard configurations: the APM-424(V)4 MK XII Test Set and the APM-424(V)5 MK XIIA Test Set. The APM-424(V)4 is fully compliant with DoD AIMS standards for testing Mark XIIA performance of Mode 4 equipment, DO-260B ADS-B Out performance, and ICAO Annex 10 international standards for Mode S ELS/EHS performance, and is Mode 5 upgradable. The APM-424(V)5 adds Mode 5 Level 1 and Level 2 testing and supports both DoD AIMS 04-900A Option A (KIV-78) and Option B (KIV-77) crypto appliqués.
Both units closely replicate legacy operation so that existing procedures can continue to be used. A 20-character, 4-line display shows data and parametric measurements, and for legacy test modes the menu structure and displayed data format have been retained so that minimal changes are required of fielded procedures.
Operation is one-piece, three-button point-and-shoot Go/No-Go, with self-diagnostics. Parametric test results can be stored and downloaded to a PC for review or maintenance logging. The product is controlled for export under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
