Overview

The os7520 is a member of the Luna os7500 family of fiber optic accelerometers based on patent pending Fabry-Pérot (FP) technology. Used with the HYPERION instrument platform, it can be combined with other FP and FBG sensors in multi-sensor distributed measurement systems.

The os7500 sensors can replace conventional accelerometers in vibration measurement applications while adding EMI immunity, robust packaging and lightning/corrosion resistance. Within the family, the os7520 is the higher-sensitivity, lower-range model, covering frequencies from 0 to 100 Hz.

Multiplexing

The sensor uses a two-fiber I/O design that allows multiple sensors to be daisy-chained. Each sensor responds only to optical signals within a 20 nm band and passes all other wavelengths in both directions, so up to 8 accelerometers can be combined per optical channel on a HYPERION instrument with a 160 nm wavelength range.

Software

ENLIGHT Sensing Analysis Software provides a utility to calculate, record, display and transmit data for large networks of sensors. HYPERION firmware includes os7500 support.
