Overview
The PLC-M02 is the miniature version of the PolaRITE pigtailed manual polarization controller in the Luna (formerly General Photonics) PLC series. It is supplied pigtailed with or without connectors and can be spliced to other components with minimal loss, making it suitable for controlling the polarization state of light in single-mode fiber optic systems.
Operating principle
The controller applies pressure to a single-mode fiber to change its birefringence and thus the polarization of the output light. The amount of pressure is set with a thumb screw, and the pressure axis is set by rotating the center section of the controller.
Configurations
The pigtailed controller is offered in a regular size (PLC-002) and in this miniature size (PLC-M02). The standard operating wavelength ranges are 1260 to 1650 nm and 980 to 1310 nm, and a range of connector types or bare fiber ends can be specified when ordering.
