G0306C Video Inspection Probe for Fiber Connector End Faces

The Anritsu G0306C Video Inspection Probe inspects the end face of an optical fiber connector attached to a tester or PC to confirm cleanliness and detect damage. The image helps decide whether a dirty or scratched connector should be cleaned or replaced.

Scratches and stains on optical fiber ferrule end faces can degrade transmission quality. A dirty end face tends to produce higher reflection, while a damaged end face adds both reflection and splice loss. When the reflection or loss caused by damage is high, the connector port needs to be replaced.

Supported instruments and software

The probe connects over USB to the Network Master Pro MT1000A/MT1040A series, the ACCESS Master MT9085 series, the Network Master MT9090A series with the MU909014/15 μOTDR module, or a Windows PC running the MX900030A Connector Master software. On each platform the live image is focused, the analysis is started, and the result is reported for the core, cladding, adhesive and contact zones with a pass/fail determination per zone according to IEC 61300-3-35. Results can be saved as PNG screen captures or VIP data files, reloaded later, and exported as a PDF report.

The probe uses a fixed 400x focus that is adjusted with a scroll wheel. Bulk-type tips inspect the ferrule of a fiber through a connector adapter, while universal-type tips plug directly onto the ferrule under test.
