Overview

The Anritsu MA24350A is a microwave CW USB power sensor that measures average power from 10 MHz to 50 GHz across 90 dB of dynamic range through a V(m) connector. It is the 50 GHz member of the MA243x0A series, which also includes the 33 GHz MA24330A and the 40 GHz MA24340A with K(m) connectors. The sensor uses a single-path diode architecture with digital processing that delivers more than 2,100 continuous or 5,600 buffered power readings per second.

A low-noise design removes the need to zero the sensor before measurements for most applications, and no 1 mW reference calibration is required. Internal and external triggering supports time-based measurements, and a list mode speeds up automated test sequences.

Control and connectivity

The sensor connects to a host through a USB 2.0 Micro-B port and can be controlled from a PC with remote programming commands or with PowerXpert, Anritsu's free software application. It is also compatible with most Anritsu RF and microwave handheld instruments; a high accuracy power meter software option such as Option 19 may be required on the instrument.

Ruggedness and calibration

Damage protection of +26 dBm CW and a removable silicone protective covering add durability for field use. The covering is required for warranted operation. Calibration is NIST traceable and traceable to SI units via national metrology institutes, and Anritsu recommends a 12-month calibration interval.
