Overview

The Anritsu MU909015B is a member of the µOTDR Module series (MU909014B/14B1/15B/15B1). The modules are designed for the Network Master MT9090A mainframe and together they form a handheld optical time domain reflectometer that fits in the palm of the hand.

According to Anritsu, the µOTDR series offers 5 cm resolution for event mapping, deadzones of less than 1 meter (3 feet) and a dynamic range of up to 37 dB. That is enough to test links of more than 150 km (90 miles) or PON-based FTTx networks with splits of up to 1 x 64.

The module has an integrated launch fiber, so the first connector can be measured without external devices. A "Fiber Visualizer" mode makes the instrument usable by operators without OTDR experience. The platform also includes an optical power meter and a visible red-light source, and it connects over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet.
