Overview

The VIAVI MSRC-C2D000DF-M100-MFA is a single-output Distributed Feedback (DFB) laser source module operating at 1610 nm. It belongs to the Multiple Application Platform (MAP) General Purpose Light Source (mSRC-C2) family, a group of stabilized, fiber-coupled, fixed-wavelength emitters that share a common module interface.

DFB lasers use a grating to define the output wavelength precisely. They are narrow-linewidth sources with good side-band suppression and are inherently mode-hop free, which makes them suited to applications where wavelength and power stability matter. The 1610 nm wavelength is intended for L-band telemetry. The laser is TEC stabilized, and optical isolators in the module reduce stability effects caused by back reflection from dirty or open connectors.

The module supports constant current and constant power control modes, at least 10 dB of power adjustment from maximum power down, and square-wave modulation from 0.15 to 2 kHz. Output is on single-mode fiber with an FC/APC connector.

Platform

The mSRC is part of the MAP LightDirect module family and is compatible with all current MAP-300 and MAP-200 chassis. MAP chassis are rack-mountable or benchtop and host 2, 3 or 8 application modules. The platform provides a web-enabled multiuser interface, LXI compliance and SCPI-based automation drivers, with a graphical interface that switches between summary and detailed module views for lab or manufacturing use.
