Overview
The MSRC-C23C00DF-M100-MFA is a member of the VIAVI Multiple Application Platform (MAP) General Purpose Light Source (mSRC-C2) family. It combines two distributed feedback (DFB) lasers, at 1310 nm and 1510 nm, with multiple individual outputs on single-mode fiber with FC/APC connectors. The lasers are TEC-stabilized.
DFB lasers are narrow-linewidth sources that use a grating to define the output wavelength precisely. They offer good side-band suppression, are inherently mode-hop free and are typically used where wavelength and power stability are key. The 1310 nm source serves as a generalized O-band source, while the 1510 nm source covers the C-band telemetry channel. Optical isolators in the module eliminate stability effects caused by back reflection from dirty or open connectors.
The module can operate in constant current or constant power mode, with an optical power tuning range of at least 10 dB from maximum power down, and supports modulation from 0.15 to 2 kHz.
MAP platform
The mSRC is part of the LightDirect module family for the MAP modular, rack-mountable or benchtop optical test platform, whose chassis host 2, 3 or 8 application modules. The platform is LXI compliant with SCPI-based automation drivers and PC-based management tools, and its graphical user interface switches between summary and detailed views. The mSRC-C2 is compatible with all current MAP-300 and MAP-200 chassis.
