Overview
The MOSX-C1148XCCB0-M100-MLU is the 48-port, LC/APC bulkhead variant of the VIAVI MAP Series mOSX-C1 cross connect optical switch. It is a non-blocking, bidirectional single-mode matrix switch that occupies a dual-width slot in a MAP chassis and acts as a test path manager, allowing multiple test paths to be connected across the switch fabric so that test processes can run in parallel.
Switch fabric
The switch supports any-port to any-port connections, enabling both symmetric MxM topologies (for example 8x8) and asymmetric topologies (for example 4x12). Ports can be allocated as inputs or outputs as needed. Connections may be pre-configured without light present, remain in a blocking state until activated, and can be made and broken without affecting other connections. As a software option, the switch can be assigned a specific MxN topology, in which case only connections that follow the programmed structure are allowed; in full any-to-any mode all connections are possible.
Switching engine
The switching engine uses compact piezoelectric actuators to align the signal path through expanded beam optics. A capacitive sensor matrix measures the position of the collimating lens to provide long-term stability and repeatability, and connections are maintained even when no light is present. Reflective optics fold the switch engine so that each fiber can connect to all other fibers, with the configuration set dynamically by software.
Control and integration
The module is controlled through a SCPI remote interface or the MAP Series graphical user interface, where ports can be given logical names and connections can be disabled or re-enabled. The mOSX is part of the LightDirect switching module family, is compatible with all current MAP-300 and MAP-200 chassis, and can be paired with MAP Series mOSW modules to build larger switching systems.
