Overview

The MOSX-C1132XCCB0-M100-MLU is the 32-port, LC/APC bulkhead version of the VIAVI MAP Series mOSX-C1 Cross Connect Optical Switch. It is a common connection single-mode optical matrix switch that occupies two slots in a MAP-300 or MAP-200 chassis and works as a test path manager, connecting multiple test paths across the switch fabric so that test processes can run in parallel.

The switch is non-blocking and bidirectional. Its any-port to any-port fabric supports both symmetric MxM topologies (for example 8x8) and asymmetric topologies (for example 4x12), so the same hardware can be reconfigured in software. Ports can be assigned as inputs or outputs as needed. Connections can be pre-configured without light present, stay in a blocking state until activated, and can be made or broken without affecting any other connection.

Switching principle

The switching engine uses compact piezoelectric actuators to align the signal path through expanded beam optics. A capacitive sensor matrix measures the position of the collimating lens for long-term stability and repeatability, and connections hold even when no light is present. Reflective optics fold the switch engine so that each fiber can connect to every other fiber.

Control

The module can be controlled through the SCPI remote interface or the MAP Series graphical user interface. Ports can be given logical names, and connections between ports can be disabled or re-enabled. As a software option, the switch can be limited to a set MxN topology so that only connections matching that structure are allowed. Paired with VIAVI mOSW modules, it can be used to build larger switching systems.
