Overview

The VIAVI E41FDWDMC is the tunable filter version of the 4100 Series DWDM OTDR module. It is designed for end-to-end link characterization and troubleshooting through MUX/DEMUX of newly deployed or active DWDM and hybrid CWDM/DWDM networks, and is used with the T-BERD/MTS-2000, -4000 V2, -5800, CellAdvisor 5G and OneAdvisor 800 platforms.

The module tunes across the C-band from channel C62 to C12 (1527.99 nm to 1567.95 nm) on the ITU-T G.694.1 grid with 50, 100 or 200 GHz channel spacing. The tunable filter allows testing through the MUX and common (test) ports without disrupting traffic on active channels, and automatic traffic detection is built in.

An integrated C-band tunable light source with CW and modulated output modes is used to verify end-to-end continuity through MUX/DEMUX and ROADMs before service turn-up. Software options add Wavescan, which automatically identifies and tests the DWDM port channel or link, and SFP Protect, which helps avoid accidental transceiver damage.

Platform test features

Standard testing features include auto-setting of the acquisition parameters, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis per international standards, event diagnosis and FastReport onboard report generation. The optional Smart Link Mapper (SLM) application presents the fiber link as an icon-based view of splices, connectors and MUX/DEMUX components.
