Overview

The VIAVI E41DWDMC is the DWDM OTDR module of the 4100 Series. It performs end-to-end link characterization and troubleshooting through MUX/DEMUX of newly deployed or active DWDM and hybrid CWDM/DWDM networks, using the exact DWDM wavelengths of the ITU-T G.694.1 grid in the C-band (CH12 to CH62).

The module is used by cable, wireless and telecommunications operators on C-RAN and mobile fronthaul access networks, passive DWDM networks for cable business services, metro and access rings, and next-generation FTTH networks. Testing through the MUX and common (test) port allows faulty links to be located while traffic on active channels continues.

An integrated CW light source with modulation capability verifies end-to-end continuity through MUX/DEMUX and ROADMs before service turn-up. The optional patented Wavescan software identifies and tests the DWDM port channel automatically, and the SFP Protect option guards against accidental transceiver damage. The optional Smart Link Mapper application shows the link as icons, with splices, connectors and MUX/DEMUX components.

The module fits the T-BERD/MTS-2000, T-BERD/MTS-4000 V2, T-BERD/MTS-5800, CellAdvisor 5G and OneAdvisor 800 platforms. Standard platform testing features include automatic setting of acquisition parameters, a summary results table with pass/fail analysis against international standards, event diagnosis and FastReport onboard report generation.
