Overview

The VIAVI CellAdvisor 5G (part number CA5000) is a field-portable base station analyzer for validating, deploying and maintaining 5G radio access networks. It combines real-time spectrum analysis with 5G beam analysis and can test fiber, coax and air interfaces from one instrument.

The base unit includes a spectrum analyzer and an RF power meter and is ordered with one internal frequency hardware option, ranging from 5G NR FR1 up to 6 GHz through FR1 plus FR2 up to 40 GHz, 9 kHz to 18.5 GHz, and contiguous coverage of 9 kHz to 30 GHz or 9 kHz to 44 GHz. Signal analysis bandwidth is up to 100 MHz. Additional capabilities such as real-time spectrum analysis, interference analysis, route mapping, gated sweep, LTE/LTE-A, DSS, 5G NR and NSA signal analysis are added through software licenses.

Fiber, coax and CPRI testing

With the optional CAA module the instrument performs cable and antenna analysis up to 6 GHz and provides an RF source; with a 4100-Series OTDR module it tests fiber for fronthaul, DAS and C-RAN. Versions with optic hardware support RF-over-CPRI interference analysis through dual SFP/SFP+ ports.

Reporting

The touch-screen interface works together with the cloud-enabled VIAVI StrataSync service for creating reports and closing out cell site projects.

Key Features

  • Real-time spectrum and interference analysis with persistence display for 5G FR1 (sub-6GHz) and FR2 (mmWave)
