Overview
The Calnex SNE-X is a multi-port network emulator for reproducing real-world network conditions in the lab. It is intended to help assess product and application quality under realistic impairments while reducing the cost of testing.
The instrument supports up to 28 ports and 1 to 100GbE wire rate. This allows hundreds of packet streams to be impaired at the same time, including the network conditions experienced by 5G services and applications. Maximum intrinsic latency is 20 µs, and a backplane with "Any Port to Any Port" capability allows packets to be sent between any ports during simultaneous testing.
Web UI and automation
Impairment scenarios are built in a web-based user interface. Users drag impairments from a library onto a network map, and several scenarios can run at once for high-volume testing. Settings can be changed live, scheduled on a timeline, or controlled through a RESTful API for test automation.
Impairments and analysis
The SNE-X can emulate delay and jitter, bandwidth throttling, background traffic, packet reordering, corruption, fragmentation, duplication and loss, and can modify packets. It also includes filtering, bandwidth and packet-rate analysis, live monitoring and Wireshark integration. Traffic capture and replay, extended delay, TCP load generation, DDOS simulation and audio/video impairments are available as options.
