Overview

The NSC200-GPON-XGSPON-BASE is a standard PON package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-200). According to the NSC-200 ordering information, this package includes GPON and XGSPON test capability.

The Network & Service Companion is a compact, screenless hand-held device that combines multiple test interfaces (PON, Ethernet, WiFi) with VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and service testing by frontline technicians and installers. It is operated through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app on a smartphone or tablet over Bluetooth.

For PON testing, the unit emulates an ONU/ONT using a VIAVI GPON SFP or VIAVI XGSPON SFP with an SC/APC interface. Results include PON activation state, power level values from the SFP, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984, G.9807 and G.988 standards, allowing technicians to confirm PON service delivery before troubleshooting the premises.

Test results, jobs and reports are managed with the on-board Job Manager and can be submitted via StrataSync or by email. Additional Ethernet, WiFi, throughput and loopback capabilities are available as options for the NSC-200 platform.
