Overview
The NSC200-GPON-PRO is a standard package of the VIAVI Network & Service Companion (NSC-200), a compact, screenless hand-held test device that combines PON, Ethernet and WiFi test interfaces with VIAVI OneCheck applications for network validation and multi-gig service testing by frontline technicians and installers.
This package includes GPON, Ethernet and WiFi testing together with VIAVI SpeedCheck 1G and Ookla Speedtest 1G throughput tests. GPON testing uses a VIAVI GPON SFP for ONU/ONT emulation and reports PON activation state, power levels, PON ID and ODN class according to ITU-T G.984 and G.988. Testing at each access point (GPON, Ethernet, WiFi) allows technicians to confirm PON service delivery before troubleshooting the premises and to segment issues quickly.
WiFi testing covers WiFi Expert passive analysis up to WiFi 6 and OneCheck WiFi connected-mode tests up to WiFi 5 3x3, showing coverage, channel noise, airtime and throughput, with recommendations when performance is below expectation. The NSC-200 platform supports throughput testing up to 10 Gbps with additional speed test options.
Workflow and connectivity
The unit is operated through the VIAVI Mobile Tech app over Bluetooth on Android or iOS devices. Job Manager helps technicians manage jobs, test results and reports, and reports can be generated on board and submitted via StrataSync or by email from a smartphone or tablet. NSCs can also act as remote-controlled test agents for the VIAVI Fusion centralized test system.
