Overview

The VIAVI J9007A is the Premium Config version of the NITRO Core Traffic Analysis Agent (TAA). The TAA is a data access agent for NITRO Core, the VIAVI analytics and assurance portfolio for mobile service providers. NITRO Core takes a subscriber-centric approach and provides service-focused, unified workflows with correlated, application-aware insights.

Traffic processing

The TAA captures control-plane traffic frames and generates control-plane and user-plane (CP/UP) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive network performance metrics. These KPIs serve as inputs for NITRO Core applications. The TAA is intended for deployments where packet or record storage is not required; when traffic storage is needed, VIAVI directs operators to the NITRO Core Traffic Storage Agent (TSA) instead.

Third-party feeds

In addition to supporting NITRO Core applications, the TAA can supply SMARTmetrics data to non-VIAVI third-party applications or data lakes. Operators can tailor feed content to output only the data a third-party application requires. Feeds cover both control-plane and user-plane data and are delivered at timed intervals.

Service and application classification

The TAA uses several methods to identify end-user services and applications, including a DPI engine that supports more than 5,000 applications. User plane records are enriched with service, APN/5G slice, handset, location and subscriber information. For troubleshooting, the TAA's SMARTmetrics work with the CEA and Performance Explorer apps to support KPI-based fault analysis.
